tasting my blood on your lips

The vampire kissed Theo’s neck, his fangs scraping the base of Theo’s throat. His heart beat faster when the vampire sucked a mark at the juncture of his neck and shoulder as blood rushed to his groin. Theo could feel his pulse on his dick, where it rubbed against the vampire’s thigh.

For a moment, Theo could forget he was doing this for money, he could forget how to keep track of the time, he could forget he should be alert as he got lost in the feeling of the vampire’s mouth on his skin.

When he bit him, Theo felt excruciating pain that traveled from the side of his neck up his head and down his left arm. It was the most delicious sort of pain: sharp, devastating, allconsuming. Then, the endorphins kicked in and Theo let himself be free for the tiniest of moments, to feel the blood rushing out of his body as the lights dimmed.

An instant of bliss.

Theo gasped himself awake, slightly pushing the vampire away. His heart beat erratically and he knew this time they almost went too far.

“You’re supposed to stop at the pint,” he joked, but there was a slight tremble to his voice. God, that had felt good. Too good. Three grand was not worth ending up in the hospital for.

The vampire almost chuckled. Almost. “If I wanted you dead, you would be.”

“Not reassuring.” Where was Hunter anyway? She should be checking on the merchandise. If Theo wasn’t used to seeing this guy around the club—which meant he’d been vetted—, he would be calling in a Code Red. He padded to the ensuite to look at the vampire bites fade in the mirror. He was slowly coming down from that blissful headspace the bite left him at and he realized he would miss this.

“Same time again on Friday?” the vampire said as he put on his leather jacket.

“Actually–” said Theo, fixing his eyes on his reflection in the bathroom mirror. He felt as if he was about to break up with his first boyfriend all over again. In a way, it was very similar: this man had been his first vampire client and he quickly became a regular. Theo saw him more often than he saw his first boyfriend, to be honest. But it was time for Theo to go back to the human world and now he had the money to live there comfortably for the rest of his life.

“What is it?” the vampire asked, frowning. Theo had to admit his frown made him look as human as Theo himself.

“I’m getting out,” he said, casually but definitively, ripping off a bandaid.

“Getting out?”

“Yeah, I’m not gonna work here anymore. Thought someone would’ve told you by now, man.”

“But– you can’t! I, I–” the man sputtered. He looked confused and hurt.

“Yeah, I can and I am.” he crossed his arms over his chest defensively. “Why are you being so weird? Do I have to call in a Code Red?”

“No, no. It’s just– is there someone else?”

“I don’t see how it’s any of your business, but no. I’m going to Europe. I always wanted to go and now I can. I’m gonna study in Prague.”

“In Prague! After everything I told you about Prague.”

Theo couldn’t help himself. He smiled. “That’s why I’m going. I want to see it, I want—”

“Theo, if you wanted to travel, why didn’t you say so? I could take you anywhere.”

Theo raised his eyebrow in question. “Dates are not included in the experience.”

The vampire paced around the room, wearing a path on the floor. Theo watched him lose his cool with fond eyes and a warm smile. This was exactly why he had to get out while he still could: falling for a client was bad enough, falling for a vampire was ten times worse.

Suddenly, the vampire came to a stop in front of Theo. “Leave with me.”

“What?”

“Let’s leave together. I’ll show you Prague myself. Let me court you in the streets I lived and died in.”

Theo’s stomach clenched.

He should say no.

He should call for Hunter and ask her to escort the man out.

He doesn’t even know the man’s real name, all he’d heard were variations of Lord Something-or-other.

Theo knew he should care about all of that, yet all that came out of his mouth was “will you tell me your real name? I’ve been dying to know since that first day.”

The vampire smiled, all fangs and mischief. “Vlad. Thought someone would’ve told you by now.”

Vlad bridged the distance between them, snaking an arm around his waist and pulling Theo flush against his body. Reluctantly, Theo pulled away.

“I can’t be seen leaving with a client. Club rules. Sorry.” Vlad frowned again. “Meet me at the back in 15.”

Vlad left quickly after that, while Theo got dressed, picked up his money from Hunter and got hugged by pretty much every worker in the club. When he stepped outside, Vlad was waiting for him at the end of the alley. He looked up when he heard Theo come out.

Theo looked around before dropping his bag on the floor and pushing Vlad against the wall. The vampire hissed, showing his impressive set of fangs. Theo kissed him, hard, tasting his own blood on Vlad’s lips. He kissed him as if the world depended on it. He kissed him until he had to stop to take a mouthful of air.

“You know, I’ve always wondered if you can actually drink blood from someone’s cock,” Theo said.

Vlad grunted and threw his head back. “We could get to a bed first, I suppose?” though Vlad didn’t sound like he thought them capable.

“I’ve never had my blood sucked in an alleyway either.”

Vlad let his fangs show as he opened his mouth and sank his teeth on Theo’s neck.

Theo moaned.

Whether he lived or died, what bliss.
