Derek Hale

People might have wondered why Derek Hale —werewolf Alpha and notorious vampire hunter from a long line of vampire hunters— was entering Bloodmoon just shy of midnight, specially if they knew it was a lair teeming with some of the deadliest, most bloodthirsty vampires this side of the Atlantic, but Derek was nothing if not a man of his word and he would repay his debt even if it was the last thing he did.

Derek Hale is a werewolf and the current Alpha of the Hale Pack. 28 years old at the start of our story, he's uncomfortable around vampires and remains suspicious of them even after falling for Stiles. Most of his family was killed in a fire 13 years prior to the story. His older sister, Laura, became his Alpha afterwards, until she was killed by his uncle Peter 6 months before the beginning of our story. Grieving and looking for answers, Derek kills Peter with the help of Stiles' coven, who were following Peter with intent to kill him for unrelated offenses. He then became the Alpha of the Hale Pack that back then was composed of Derek, Cora and Malia.

Though he was raised in a family of vampire hunters, his Pack has always lived in the peace with the local vampire clan, under a truce brokered by Talia Hale when Stiles arrived at Beacon Hills. For this reason, while his family raised him to hunt them, Derek has always harbored a deep curiosity for vampires (some may call it a kink, but who doesn't have a vampire kink, am I right?)

After becoming an Alpha, he turned Isaac, Erica, and Boyd, who he knew through Cora.

He's very loyal to his pack and would do anything to protect them, including what he sees as sacrificing his freedom. He's not a bad Alpha, but he's inexperienced and he doesn't have any trusted elders to guide him in how to be an Alpha, so he's figuring it out as he goes, which doesn't always work best for him.

Stiles Stilinski

If someone asked him an hour ago what he thought of Stilinski, he would’ve said he was an annoying piece of shit who happened to be in the right place at the right time when Derek had been about to die. Sure, he was handsome but weren’t all vampires? It was part of their thing: looking attractive to their victims to lure them in to suck their blood until they got bored and tossed them away. (...) Now, though, seeing Stilinski on that man’s lap, drinking his blood in a grotesque show of lust that didn’t leave anything to the imagination, Derek briefly wondered if it would be so terrible, to be torn apart by that pretty mouth, sharp fangs burrowing into his skin taking away all his sorrows in a wave of pleasure.

Stiles Stilinski is the leader of the Becon Hills vampire coven. Born in Krakow in 1450 to to nobles in the Polish szlachta who claimed he was the legitimate heir to the throne, he was turned in 1973 by Aya, a mysterious, worldly woman who saw him as a political asset and potential weapon.

Centuries after being turned, Stiles meets Lydia whom he falls in love with at first sight and becomes his first vampire companion. Years later, they move to California for the first time and save Kira's life. Since then, the three of them have been inseparable.

Stiles' coven is completed with the recent addition of Scott and Allison. Though their coven is small, they're highly respected by other vampires due to their strange gifts and, in Stiles' case, old age. Stiles was born in a fae-touched family, which, combined with the fact that he was turned by one of the Ancient Ones, gave him special vampiric gifts that he passed down to the vampires in his coven.

Stiles is extremely loyal to his coven and would do anything to protect them, up to and including leaving them to attract the danger to himself instead of his coven. He's confident, sarcastic, and obsessed with 80s music. His devotion to his coven makes him an excellent, if unpredictable, leader.
